Same Verse – Different Visuals

from-the-sketch-book-pg-8.jpgAll artist /writers are different. Some like to include a visual with a gag/joke/verse, while others submit writing only. I can present both ways but typically like to send in at least a page full of ideas to a companies NEEDS LIST without art. If an idea is chosen from that page, I then submit a sketch of the eventual card. Here’s a greeting card verse that was purchased and the resulting two images I sent in for review. I personally like the little critter (think it was going to be a fox) robbing the bank but the art director went with the flower design. Less offensive and cute. Just between you and I… I’ve always been freaked out by Venus’s- fly traps. Guess this design was a subliminal way of facing my fears!

And oh yeah— without going to look it up, I think  I recall the inside of the card reading , “so that’s why this card doesn’t contain any. Happy Birthday.
