Keeping Busy

Filed under: Uncategorized — scottnelson @ 3:29 pm

I consider myself to be a “people person”, yet when I became a freelance artist I inevitably ended up working all by myself.  So for me one of the nicest things about the invention of the internet is using it for social networking . Feeling like I’m part of various communities in my professional and personal hobbies helps me chase away the boredom.  I actively participate on a biking forum, severe weather forum and even a Halloween forum for fun when time allows.

But hands down, my favorite location to spend time on the web now is on the  site… Escape from Illustration Island.  The site features podcast interviews with other freelance artists and a wealth of information about marketing your work.   So recently when  I slowed down at work… I simply  searched key word “keeping busy” and ran across an article about artists who are offering stock illustration to companies.  I’d never tried that before and figured it would be worth a shot.  So thank you on-line artist community. I’ll check back in a few months and let you know how it goes with this new stock art endeavor.  In the mean time… wish me luck  “Keeping Busy!”

  1. I tried submitting to istockphoto.com a while back, but they didn’t accept them (which is why i stopped drawing for a while). I’m trying to hone my style a little, and i may give it a shot again. They have lots of rules at istock, so be sure to read them before getting too far into your illustrations. Good luck! i’d love to see some of your stuff on there.
